Green’s function representations for Marchenko imaging without up/down decomposition

نویسندگان

چکیده

Marchenko methods are based on integral representations which express Green's functions for virtual sources and/or receivers in the subsurface terms of reflection response at surface. An underlying assumption is that inside medium wave field can be decomposed into downgoing and upgoing waves evanescent neglected. We present a new derivation function circumvents these assumptions, both acoustic elastodynamic situation. These form basis research have potential to handle refracted more accurately image steeply dipping reflectors.

Marchenko imaging

Traditionally, the Marchenko equation forms a basis for 1D inverse scattering problems. A 3D extension of the Marchenko equation enables the retrieval of the Green’s response to a virtual source in the subsurface from reflection measurements at the earth’s surface. This constitutes an important step beyond seismic interferometry. Whereas seismic interferometry requires a receiver at the positio...

Coupled Marchenko equations for electromagnetic Green’s function retrieval and imaging

Recently a new theory has been developed to retrieve a wavefield generated by a source on the surface and recorded at a point in the subsurface without the need for a receiver at that subsurface location. The scheme is presented for threedimensional wavefields. It decomposes the electromagnetic field in upand downgoing electric fields and in TEand TMmodes. Each mode can be treated separately to...

Using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to explore brain function: cortical representations of language critical areas

Pre-operative determination of the dominant hemisphere for speech and speech associated sensory and motor regions has been of great interest for the neurological surgeons. This dilemma has been of at most importance, but difficult to achieve, requiring either invasive (Wada test) or non-invasive methods (Brain Mapping). In the present study we have employed functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging...

Incorporating free-surface multiples in Marchenko imaging

Imagine placing a receiver at any location in the Earth and recording the response at that location to sources on the surface. In such a world, we could place receivers around our reservoir to better image the reservoir and understand its properties. Realistically, this is not a feasible approach for understanding the subsurface. Here, we present an alternative and realizable approach to obtain...
